Metropolitan Sewer District Shows Dedication to Ongoing Quality

October 2011

The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati regularly updates and outfits its laboratories with the newest, high-tech equipment to keep its facilities running smoothing and generating top-notch results.

Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater CincinnatiRecently, the MSDGC hired FSE to perform pre-construction investigation services on one of its laboratories for the industrial waste division. The industrial waste division runs tests on industrial waste water in the tri-state area to identify and treat contaminates in the water. However, as equipment is continually improving and possible contaminates are evolving, the MSDGC must constantly update its laboratories to be able to ensure water safety.

As such, FSE is working on assessing the existing equipment to determine what equipment will still serve the laboratory well, while also making recommendations for equipment and systems that need replacing based on its condition and functionality. Additionally, FSE is helping the design team identify what is required to create a superior laboratory space that will function extremely well over the next decade.

"We've identified some action steps that will help make the facility much more comfortable and reliable for the scientists who work there," says Gary Robinson, facilities performance engineer. "It's been very fulfilling to work in a place where we’re making a real difference."
